From the artist: "Members of a family share certain traits and characteristics that make them similar and obviously related, and yet each member is unique. The same is true of this "family" of gourds. In this piece, the graceful stems are reminiscent of outstretched arms, two of which appear to be reaching up to safeguard the little one - the baby of the family - perched on top."
