"Once Beloved on Inisheer"

Jan Winton (1st Submission)

From the artist: "The Aran Island of Inis Oirr is bleak, beautiful, and windswept. The modest cottages, inhabited by a long line of island families are perched on rock, with seaweed-soil gardens. During an artist residency here, I saw artifacts within homes that spoke of memories and personal stories. I made a series of work that contrasted some of these simple objects on backgrounds that reflected both the sea and landscape as well as the lively musical, strong women and story filled atmosphere."
