The Gananoque Arts Network has received funding from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Community-Based Projects Program.
The objectives of this federal program include promoting volunteerism, engaging seniors in mentoring, expanding awareness of elder abuse, supporting social participation and inclusion, and providing capital assistance for new or existing
community projects/programs.
The Gananoque Arts Network (GAN) will use the approximately $20,000 received to run a series of creative arts programs for seniors across the community. This programming will include a broad range of creative opportunities
will include a broad range of creative opportunities including drawing, wood burning, photography, pottery, and painting. Engagement opportunities with seniors and thosewho support seniors will allow GAN to create programming that meets local needs and interests and optimizes the level of engagement. The program will run from August through the end of March 2026. GAN is a community-based, not for profit volunteer organization with a mission of “Focusing on transforming our community and lives through the power of creative expression”.
